There are several things you can do around your home to cut costs and save money! But I’m not the right person to tell you what those things are. Let’s face it, I’m not handy around the house and I’m not good at DIY projects. Luckily my friend Rob has a home improvement blog, and he has some great tips to share with you!
Hi everyone,
Much of my home improvement blog, Life Hack and DIY is spent talking about life hacks and other tips to save people money. I wanted to share some of these with you.
Replace your Swiffer mop:
For those of you who use the Swiffer mop, there is a cheaper alternative which can do all the same things, the O-Cedar mop. With reusable mop pads and mop liquid it can lead to significant savings. I talk about it on my blog in a post which can be found here: Get rid of the Swiffer
Buy a Smart Sprinkler controller and save on your water bills
If you purchase a Smart Sprinkler controller, your sprinkler system will connect to your local weather via WiFi and will automatically turn off when it is raining or predicted to rain. In addition to the savings on your water bills, you may be able to receive a rebate from your local water department for the purchase of the Smart Sprinkler controller. I talk about this topic more on my blog in a post which can be found here: Smart Sprinklers
Outlet Timers
This is especially timely (no pun intended) for the holidays. Instead of having to remember to turn your holiday lights on and off (and accidentally leaving them on all night at times) connect them to an outlet timer and set them to be on only a few hours a day (say 6-10 pm). This will save money and also effort, as you only have to set the timer once and then can forget about it. I talk about this topic more on my blog in a post which can be found here: Outlet Timers
Creating your own coat hanger/belt hanger
Instead of buying a coat hanger / belt hanger you can make your own inexpensively with pegboard. Also, by making if with pegboard you can customize the hooks to be anyway you want. I talk about this topic more on my blog in a post which can be found here: Pegboard Belt/Tie Rack
